People with a family history of Melanoma skin cancer
Individuals with a large number of moles
People with a history of severe sunburns
People who have had previous history of skin cancers.
What happens during a Skin Check?
During a skin check, your dermatologist will ask about your past medical and skin history, including any previous skin cancers or family history of skin cancer. They will also inquire if you have any concerns about your skin
The dermatologist will systematically examine your skin using magnifying tools or a dermatoscope to closely inspect any lesions. Photographs may be taken to monitor changes over time. Dermatologists are skilled in identifying abnormal features quickly and accurately.
If a suspicious lesion is found, your dermatologist will discuss the next steps, which may include a biopsy for further examination. Treatment options will be discussed based on the diagnosis.
