Utilizing a unique 1726 nm wavelength, AviClear targets and suppresses sebaceous glands, treating active acne and helping prevent future breakouts. Pre-treatment advice for AviClear Laser treatments
Discontinue the use of skincare products that may irritate the treated area for 3-5 days before each AviClear treatment.
Use gel or water-based (oil-free) products prior and during your treatments.
Patients with beards should shave the morning of the appointment if hair-bearing areas will be part of the treatment.
What to expect during treatment
Series of Treatments: Typically, a series of 3 treatments is recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Each treatment session is about 30-45 minutes.
Minimal Discomfort: Most patients describe the treatment as warm or tingly. Numbing cream might be applied one hour prior for some patients to minimize discomfort. The laser is equipped with a special skin cooling technology.
Quick Procedure: The laser will be passed one to two times over each section, depending on the level of oil production and evidence of acne in each area. Some parts of the face may be more sensitive.
Minimal Downtime: There is minimal downtime after treatment. You may experience some redness or mild swelling, which usually subsides within a few hours. Patients can resume their normal activities almost immediately.
Expected adverse effects after treatment
Mild Redness or Flushing: Like a light sunburn, this is common and usually resolves within a few hours to days.
Warm Sensation: Some patients may feel a warm sensation during and immediately after the treatment.
Slight Swelling: Mild swelling may occur but typically subsides within a few hours.
Temporary mild skin dryness &/or Itchiness of the treatment area: It is normally noticed 1-2 days after treatment and typically resolves in few days up to 2-4 weeks.
Acne Flare-Ups: In some cases, mild acne flare-ups may occur 1-3 weeks post-treatment as part of the purging process.
Aftercare
After undergoing an AviClear Laser treatment, it's essential to follow proper aftercare instructions to promote optimal healing and minimize any potential side effects. Here are some general guidelines:
Cold Compress: Apply a cold compress to the treated area if you experience swelling or discomfort. Use a clean cloth to avoid direct contact with the skin.
Clean Area: Gently clean the treated area with a mild cleanser morning and night.
Moisturize: Apply a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Avoid harsh cleansers, scrubs, or exfoliants until your skin has fully healed.
Avoid Picking: Let any crust or scab fall off naturally to prevent scarring or infection.
Sun Protection: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50+ and wear protective clothing for at least a week following the procedure.
Makeup: Avoid makeup on the day of the procedure. Mineral makeup can be applied the day after treatment.
